Alex van Silfhout

Alex van Silfhout began after he succeeded his equestrian school his career at the stud station, riding school De Nieuwe Heuvel at Lunteren. He gave lessons and brought out horses at competitions at dressage and jumping. Finally in 1996 Alex choose for dressage and broke through with Saint Ursus d’Olympe, which he first made to the A-cadre. Saint became the Best Stallion at the CDI for stallions at Zwolle in 1998. Alex made it to the top 3 in different international competitions with Saint. In August 1998 Saint had been sold to Brazil.

Beside Saint, Alex brought various horses to the Grand Prix, like Master, Lasalle and Dalwinnie’s Forum. At this time Alex brings out Luxform’s Nimbly at the Grand Prix. Lasalle won international prices in the Eastern Bloc in 1999. During the Netherlands Championship that year he became 9th at the kür. With Dalwinnie’s Forum Alex became first in de small final at Zwolle in the CDI for stallions in 2004.

Luxform’s Nimbly had several successes in the Prix St. Georges. In the winter of 2002-2003 Alex became 3rd at the indoor championship and 5th at the summer championship at Nijmegen in 2003. Since March 2004 Alex and Nimbly are a successful Grand Prix combination. He performed great at the qualifications for the Olympic Games at Athena. At the Netherlands Championships in 2005 Alex and Nimbly reached a second place in the heavy tour (indoor).

In 2007 Alex and Nimbly became 3rd at the Netherlands Championships at Eindhoven. At the same year they were very successful at Hickstead and won all 3 trials.

The last years Alex has been busy with training Diederick and Jarissa and his many pupils. Sometimes we still see Alex at the competitions. At this moment he is riding Locke in the Prix St. Georges.
